eBay Listing Templates — Free Formats for 2025

CSV formats, File Exchange headers, title formulas, and category item-specific layouts — working templates you can copy into Seller Hub today.

The Four Templates That Cover Every eBay Listing

Copy these structures — they mirror what eBay's own forms and bulk files expect.

CSV / File Exchange template

The bulk workhorse: one row per listing with eBay's headers — Action(SiteID), CategoryID, Title, Description, ConditionID, StartPrice, Quantity, C:Brand, C:Size. Download the category-specific version from Seller Hub → File Exchange so the item-specific columns match your category.

#Action(SiteID),#CategoryID,Title,Subtitle,Description,ConditionID,picURL,StartPrice,Quantity,C:Brand,C:Type,C:Color

Title formula template

The 80-character pattern that fits how buyers search: [Brand] + [Product Name] + [Key Attribute] + [Model/Compatibility] + [Size/Color] + [Condition keyword if used]. Put the exact product name in the first 40 characters — mobile truncates there, and eBay weighs early words more heavily.

Brand + Product + Attribute + Model + Variant — e.g. "Levi's 501 Original Jeans Mens 32x32 Straight Leg Dark Wash"

Item specifics layout

Every category has required specifics (Brand, Type, Color, Size, Material) that drive search filters. Fill 100% of required and as many recommended as you have data for — listings with complete specifics outrank equivalent listings with gaps, because they surface in more filtered results.

Brand | Type | Color | Size | Material | Style | MPN | Country/Region of Manufacture

Description skeleton

The structure top sellers reuse: one-line hook, three bullet highlights, specifications table, shipping/returns line, and a plain-text font (no HTML themes — eBay's active content policy blocks scripts and many embedded styles, and mobile hides most formatting anyway).

Hook → 3 bullet benefits → Spec table → Shipping & returns → Trust line

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I get official eBay listing templates?▼

Inside Seller Hub: Listings → File Exchange (or Reports) lets you download a category-specific template with the exact headers and item-specific columns your category requires. eBay also ships a general bulk-upload template, but the category-specific version is the one that passes validation — its C: columns match the specifics buyers filter by.

What columns are required in an eBay CSV template?▼

The minimum row: #Action(SiteID) (Add for new listings), #CategoryID, Title (max 80 characters), ConditionID, StartPrice, Quantity, and at least one photo URL (picURL) or a description. Categories add required item specifics as C: columns — Brand is required in most categories. Format values exactly as the template's instructions sheet specifies; dates use ISO format, prices use a dot decimal.

Is there a free eBay listing template generator?▼

Yes — ListingHubs generates eBay-ready CSV files from your own spreadsheet: upload any column layout, AI maps your headers to eBay's required columns, writes compliant 80-character titles, fills item specifics, and you download a File Exchange-ready file. It's free for your first 10 listings, which covers most sellers' first bulk test.

What makes a good eBay title template?▼

Front-load the exact product name in the first 40 characters (mobile truncation point), then add brand, key attributes (size, color, model), and compatibility terms. Skip punctuation decorations, ALL CAPS, and words like 'WOW' or 'L@@K' — eBay's search demotes them and they waste characters buyers actually type. Aim for 60-80 characters of natural, specific phrasing.

Can I use HTML in eBay listing descriptions?▼

Basic HTML yes — paragraphs, bold, lists, simple tables. But eBay's active content policy blocks JavaScript, Flash, and form elements, and mobile apps largely ignore inline styles. The practical template is plain text with clear structure: a one-line hook, bullets for benefits, a simple spec table, and shipping/returns. Mobile buyers (most of your traffic) see it exactly as designed.

Do listing templates work for multiple categories?▼

The core columns (title, price, quantity, condition) are universal, but item-specific columns change per category — a clothing template's C:Size has no equivalent in an electronics template, which wants C:Model and C:Compatible Models. For mixed catalogs, either export one file per category or use a generator that maps each row to its own category's specifics automatically.
